PICS from the Night Barry Hit the Record Home Run!!!

Well it took me frickin' forever, but I posted my photoset of the thousand-plus hilarious sign-holding/costumed slackers standing outside the park with their on-land-or-water contraptions hoping to catch Barry Bonds' record home run. I'm not sure whether the ball having landed nowhere near McCovey Cove makes this photoset more funny or more pathetic.

However, I did manage to get a couple pics in the park of the actual home run. Hope you get some laughs and a richer appreciation of tainted history!

I scored a pair of tickets to each of the three exhibition games in the city this week.
I'd like to go see a game with another guy, someone interested in dating (and baseball).
I'm 33, tall white and skinny. I like other white guys who are smart, funny, and in-shape.
Write me back personally and let me know what game you can make it out to!

I'm posting pics as soon as I finish this, but longtime gay fan favorite Rich Aurelia is returning to the Giants! He'll most likely be at first base, but possibly platooning with Pedro Feliz at third as well.
And just announced today, another former Padre is coming to San Francisco, the very-easy-on-the-eyes Ryan Klesko, who can play first and left field...

is it April yet?

No More Mohr

While I mourn the loss of Dustan Mohr, I take solace in the fact that the Rockies have most likely picked him up. The ironic part of that being he'll probably get more playing time there than he did here, which means more face time in televised games.
In other cute Giant news: We've acquired Mike Metheny, who, if memory serves, falls into that rugged, could be a trucker, but he's a catcher, category. I've combed the 'net looking for a decent pic, but haven't been able to find one.
Around the horn, however, looks like the cute quotient of the starting lineup has fallen... a trend that snowballed not too long after they let go Rich Aurelia. So, I've taken it upon myself to keep you updated on cuteness in other NL teams (sorry, I don't have the patience for the AL, as much as I like the A's... who let go Hudson and Mulder? wha---?)

Wake me when it's April.

Ken Caminiti

It is with great sadness that I report, if you haven't heard, that the man who was initially responsible for myself and my partner being interested in baseball, Ken Caminiti, died of a heart attack yesterday.

I will post a couple of pics of him here.

The story goes: Back in the summer of 98, Cal and I were channel flipping, dodging reruns, and we came across a close-up shot of a baseball player at bat. We both, simultaneously, cried 'WOOF!' Turned out to be a Giants vs. Padres game, and the object of our lust was Ken Caminiti. We were hooked. That was also the season of the Fighting Hydrants, and our first introduction to Rich Aurelia. We've been fans of the men, and subsequently the game, of baseball ever since.

Here is a link to the story about Ken from today's Chronicle. He hasn't played in a few years, and has been missed. And we will continue to miss him.

Dustan, the season, the playoffs

Well, the man who made me forget about Rich Aurilia this year hurt himself last Wednesday making a catch in foul territory. Dustan "Naked Baseball Players Pics Most Wanted" Mohr. Watching the game, I thought for sure he'd hyper-extended his leg and torn a ligament, and would be out for the season (which it turned out, he was). However, the injury wasn't as bad as they thought, he'll be fine, and hopefully will return as a Giant in 2005.

Overall, not a bad year for the Giants... but certainly not up to their potential. Some good things to come out of the last couple of weeks of the season: the return of pitcher Jerome Williams, looking stronger than ever; Dustan Mohr's mere presence in the dugout firing up his team... and allowing me more Dustan Shots; Tony Torcato emerging as September's most valuable pinch-hitter, I believe his days in minor-league are over, which is fantastic cuz he's soooo cute.

But there are no playoffs for the Giants this year. Our boys won't be joining in the October parade... so who do ya root for?

anyone playing the Dodgers and Astros, and anyone playing the Yankees.

although, I would take perverse pleasure in an I-5 Series, Dodgers vs. Angels, just to watch/hope that the Angels get them the same way they got us in 2002.

I will keep you all posted of major developments as they happen in the off-season. 'til then... see you in April!
