Well, I tend to wind up at Thirsty Bear after work. Good-looking bartenders and perhaps more queer patrons than you'd expect for the neighborhood. The staff are into the games too. I was even given second-row tickets in section 110 by Jason last year. But the newest menu dropped my two favorites, so I find myself not eating dinner there of late.

So I think I'm going to start going to Kate O'Brien's instead. They have HD (!!!), the food is fantastic, and while it's not fresh brewed beer it's all good stuff. No cute male staff and the customers seem damn straight though. I think I'm less likely to have a fun conversation with a random at Kate's, and everyone knows me a the Bear so it's kind of a toss-up.

Worth checking out is Ted's Sports Bar at 7th and Harrison (formerly Leticia's and Basque). Ted is nuts (I really enjoyed watching him root for Korea over Japan during the World Baseball Cup) and his service can be slow, but if you want to eat delicious Korean BBQ while surrounded by seven honking TVs, go for it.

The burgers at 4th Street Bar and Grill are pretty good and the service is attentive. Beer selection is lame, TVs are out-of-date (but there are plenty of them). One of the bartenders is family.

I used to be in the habit of hanging out at the Eagle for Saturday afternoon games. They leave the sound off but that's OK sometimes. I guess I did this mostly when I didn't have cable. :D

They sometimes have games on at Daddy's, The MIx, and The Lone Star.

Thanks Quincy. I had forgotten that the old Line-up location was turned into a sportsbar. I would like to check that place out. Where is Kate O'Brien's? We all meet there, it won't seem so straight .

Also, if you want good beer and a place to see the game, 21st Amendment is good. Very crowded on game days and little crowded on away games so you need to get there early.

      Go Giant's!!!

Yeah, I think 21st has the same brewer as the Bear. I don't go there enough, but they have good food if I recall correctly.

Kate's is at 579 Howard St. between 1st and 2nd (closer to 2nd).

21st does not have the same brewer. Shaun O'Sullivan -- Co-Founder/Brewmaster of 21A came from Twenty Tank. The brewmaster from Thirsty Bear is native San Franciscan Brenden Dobel.

And the way the Giants are playing, we need good beer. Either to drown our sorrows or to really celebrate.

I am morbidly excited that more tickets will go on sale ...

So is O'Sullivan also the brewer for Triple Rock & Jupiter? I thought the same brothers that owned those places has also owned 20 Tanks.

God I miss 20 Tanks! They had liter Massen.

There is a local boy who is brewmaster for Triple Rock, Christian A. Kazakoff, who is from Pacifica, CA.

I don't think Jupiter is a brewpub, just a pub. But, yes, same owners that owned 20 Tank, owe Jupiter and Triple Rock. 21A has no connection with Triple Rock except that Shaun use to work for the same owners. I also miss 20 Tank. Our Dixieland band played there occasionally on Sundays and on Folsom Street Fair day. Great way to start a rehearsal, with a brew and a pizza. We were there at the Draining of the Tanks, got very, very drunk that night.

I just got home from today's game where I spoke with the manager/bartender of Twin Peaks on Castro. He says they have two big screen TVs that they always have the Giants on when a game is televised. I know the TP has a bit of a reputation, but I've sat there on a Sunday late morning and savored some of the best Bloody Marys I've had in this town... and watched the eye candy stroll by, that was a fun day.

Anyhoo. puttin' it out there. I may go by and see what's up tomorrow evening, for the Giants/D'backs game.
